Stream from Restream.io

If you already send your stream to several platforms through Restream.io, CamuCam is one more destination there. Restream passes your stream on to us like to Twitch or YouTube – you upload once, as before.

Your server and key for Restream

1. On Go live, open Stream to CamuCam from… and pick the Restream.io tab.
2. Copy the Server URL and the Stream key with their copy buttons. The eye button shows the key.

The key starts with your handle and ends in &via=restream. Always copy it whole: the end only tells us the stream came through Restream – it streams the same with or without it.

Add CamuCam in Restream

1. In Restream, open your destinations and choose Add Destination.
2. Pick Custom RTMP at the end of the list.
3. Paste the Server URL into RTMP URL and the Stream key into Stream Key, then add the destination.
4. Switch CamuCam on next to your other destinations.

Restream’s own names for these buttons change now and then – look for “Custom RTMP”.

Going live

Go live in Restream as always – from Restream Studio or from your encoder. On Go live Waiting for your encoder… turns into Your encoder is live within seconds, and your followers hear about it as with any stream. When you end the stream in Restream, viewers see “Back in a moment” for up to three minutes, then the stream ends – or tap End stream now.

What looks best

• Upright (9:16): viewers on a phone see an upright stream full screen with the chat over it. Restream passes on the picture it gets, so a landscape stream stays landscape here – that works too.
• Keyframe interval 2 s in your encoder (Restream Studio sets it for you).
• Bitrate 2.5–4.5 Mbit/s.

If it doesn’t connect

• Copy the key again, whole – with your handle at the start.
• Tapped New key on Go live? The old key no longer connects: paste the new one into Restream.
• Nothing changes on Go live after a minute? Check that the CamuCam destination is switched on in Restream.

Not the same thing: Restream on CamuCam sends copies of your stream from CamuCam to other platforms.
