Streaming

Go live with OBS

Stream from OBS or any RTMP encoder – where your server and stream key are, and the settings CamuCam expects.

With OBS – or any encoder that can send to a custom RTMP server – you stream from your computer with scenes, overlays and better cameras. Every channel has its own server address and stream key.

Your server and stream key

  1. Open the OBS tab: on Go live, under Your stream, switch to OBS / encoder.
  2. Server is an rtmp:// address – copy it with the copy button.
  3. Stream key is hidden – the eye button shows it, the copy button copies it. It starts with your handle; always copy the whole key.
  4. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose the custom service and paste both.

The settings

The app gives these settings right under the key:

  • Picture: upright, 720×1280 or 1080×1920 (in OBS: Settings → Video).
  • Codecs: H.264 video, AAC audio.
  • Keyframe interval: 2 s (in OBS: Settings → Output, with the output mode set to Advanced).
  • Bitrate: 2.5–4.5 Mbit/s – 2500 to 4500 Kbps in OBS.

Upright looks best: viewers on a phone see an upright stream full screen with the chat over it. A landscape (16:9) stream works too – on a phone it sits at the top, with the chat below.

Going live and ending

Start streaming in OBS. Waiting for your encoder… changes to Your encoder is live, and you’re live – there’s no extra button to press. Your followers hear about it as with any stream.

When you stop streaming in OBS, viewers see “Back in a moment” for up to three minutes, in case it was a dropped connection; then the stream ends. To end it at once, tap End stream now on Go live. Breaks work with OBS too – see Breaks, reconnects & starting soon.

Live somewhere else too

Already live on TikTok, Twitch, Kick or YouTube? Stream here alongside shows how to send the same stream to CamuCam at the same time – with the free OBS plugin “Multiple RTMP outputs”, with an app like PRISM Live Studio or Larix Broadcaster (as “Custom RTMP”), or with a second phone. Every extra stream needs its own upload, so check your connection first.

The other way round – from CamuCam out to other platforms – is Restream.
