Breaks, reconnects & starting soon

“Be right back”, “Back in a moment” and “Starting soon” – what viewers see while your picture is away.

When your picture is away, viewers don’t just get “Offline”. They see a screen with your last picture blurred, your avatar, a countdown and your line, and your latest clip under While you wait. The chat stays open, and your goals, the podium and the party meter stay on screen. While your picture is away the clocks stand still: a party and a running timed offer don’t run down – when you’re back they go on with the time they had left.

Take a break – “Be right back”

  1. While you’re live, tap Take a break on Go live.
  2. Pick how long – 2, 5, 10 or 15 min – and, if you like, a line for your viewers (up to 60 characters, e.g. “Getting food 🍜”).
  3. Tap Start the break.

A banner shows the time left and I'm back. From the phone, your camera goes off and nothing is sent; I'm back turns it on and you’re live again in the same stream. From OBS you can keep sending – viewers see the break screen until you tap I'm back.

When the time is up, viewers read “any moment now”. If no picture is coming in, the stream ends three minutes later. If OBS is still sending, the break waits for I'm back, at most 30 minutes past its end.

In the recording of your stream, a break is a chapter viewers can skip – see Clips, VODs, moments & reels.

A dropped connection – “Back in a moment”

If your picture drops – a bad signal, switching apps on the phone, OBS stops – viewers see “Back in a moment” with a three-minute countdown. You see Your stream dropped with the time left.

  • Picture back within the three minutes: the same stream goes on by itself, and your followers aren’t told twice.
  • Nothing after three minutes: your channel shows as offline. If your picture still comes back within five minutes of the drop, the same stream continues.
  • Done anyway? End stream now ends it at once.

End stream on the phone and End stream now always go offline straight away, without these screens.

Countdown before you go live – “Starting soon”

  1. While you’re offline, tap Starting soon on Go live.
  2. Pick 5, 10 or 15 min and, if you like, a line.
  3. Tap Start the countdown.

Your page shows “Starting soon” with the countdown, and viewers can chat already. Going live ends it; Cancel calls it off.

A stream you planned under Plan your next stream shows this countdown by itself, from 15 minutes before the planned time. Your followers get a reminder 15 minutes before, too.

The assistant can start a break or a countdown for you as well.
